Prescribed-Fire Planning and Management

Prescribed fire can improve habitat, manage unwanted vegetation and support long-term timber goals.

We review potential burn units, existing firebreaks and access routes. We also consider roads, structures, nearby property and smoke-sensitive areas. The owner's goals help determine where fire should be used and how often it should return.

Our work may include burn-unit layout, firebreak preparation, timing, contractor coordination, implementation support and post-burn review. We document completed work and monitor how the vegetation responds. Future burn plans can then be adjusted as the property and management goals change.
